Tree lightings for the Tree of Hope

Nov 5, 2018, 12:28 PM by John Suart
Nov. 14 in Kingston and Nov. 15 in Napanee.

Come to the tree lighting of the Tree of Hope holiday appeal November 14 in Kingston and November 15 in Napanee

For more than 100 years the Tree of Hope has been helping kids in KFL&A every December 25th with toys, clothing and more. Created by Family and Children’s Services, the holiday appeal helps kids served by our local Children’s Aid Society. These families need help this holiday season. When you’re buying toys for your kids, they’re looking at empty stockings. When you’re preparing a feast, they’re worried they won’t have enough to eat. When you’re giving thanks for everything you have, they’re wondering how they will cope.

900 kids are counting on the Tree of Hope for December 25th. Help kick-off the campaign with the Tree of Hope tree lighting. There will be fun, entertainment and treats.

  • November 14 at 817 Division Street Kingston at 7:00PM
  • November 15 at 99 Advance Avenue in Napanee at 7:00PM

We need your help

We’re your Children’s Aid Society and we protect children from abuse and neglect. For more than 100 years we’ve been putting toys, food, clothing and more under the tree for the kids we serve. Last year, the Tree of Hope helped more than 850 kids from across Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington. This holiday season, can your family, organization or business help one of the families served by the Tree of Hope? The holiday season is a time for celebration. For some it is about faith. For others, it is family, friends or work colleagues. But for the families we serve, it is different. When you’re buying toys for your kids, they’re looking at empty stockings. When you’re preparing a feast, they’re worried they won’t have enough to eat. When you’re giving thanks for everything you have, they’re wondering how they will cope. Your donation to the Tree of Hope will give them the Holiday Spirit they need and deserve.

Important Note

We take the privacy of the children and families we serve very seriously. We cannot identify any of the children or families that benefit from the Tree of Hope. This also makes it difficult for us to honour requests for feedback from kids who received your donations of toys. Thank you for understanding.  The money we raise from the Tree of Hope will go towards buying toys, cribs, and other items our families need over the holiday season and to manage the campaign. Any money left over will be sent to our Summer Camp program, which sends some of the same kids helped by the Tree of Hope to summer camps across our two counties. We will issue tax receipts for donations of over $20.00. You can expect these receipts to arrive in February. For gifts given online, charitable tax receipts will be issued by email.
